Different investments give you different returns. Some are more vulnerable than others but if the investment does well it will give you a certain amount of money back as a profit. Your investments have to be smart in order to build wealth but some are worth the risk.

Think about how investing applies money you have saved. Investing will not GIVE you money, because there are a variety of strings attached. Those strings may be low interest rates (savings account), or withdrawal penalties (CD's), or the possibility of a loss in value (mutual funds). Greater risk generally means greater reward, but there is a tipping point where that principle becomes foolish. I'm not going to buy a bunch of lottery tickets for an investment, right?

By building up / saving up money instead of living pay check to pay check spending money on everything.
