How can living on a budget and having an emergency fund help you avoid debt?

You are prepared if you have any unknown expenses that come your way and you only buy the things within your budget so you do not go into debt

having a budget will help you give all of your money a place, so you don't overspend and go into debt. an emergency fund also helps so when unexpected things come up you wont go into debt trying to fix them.

You are putting your money exactly where it needs to go each month and if you stick to the budget, there will be no overspending. This can, in the long run, help with avoiding debt in buying houses or cars. An emergency fund is there so that when you need extra money fast, you have it then and don't have to borrow it.

A budget gives you boundaries for your money so you spend the right amount of money in the right place. An emergency fund helps you to be prepared for expenses that you didn't know about, so therefore are not in the budget. Being prepared and organized with your money definitely helps you stay out of debt.

I agree with Lauren. Making a budget helps you save, and when you're out of debt you experience freedom.

Precisely. When you follow your budget, you won't have any impulse purchases and you'll be able to afford the things you need when you need them.
