If you don't spend as much money as you used to, you'll have money you didn't before, and you'll be able to save up. Changing your money habits means you'll budget, and so you'll have more money and more self controlled

If you are a spender, than if you control your spending than you can actually save the money that you would have spent

You have a change in priorities in your spending. Having a budget doesn't mean you can't treat yourself, but you first put a portion of that extra money into savings. Eventually, as that money compounds, you will have wealth.

Changing your spending behavior helps if you tend to just buy "in the moment" without thinking about whether or not you need the thing. You need to start saving instead of spending. This helps build wealth because instead of spending the money, you save it.
